A young girl sets out on her own to fly her kite and encounters a pirate cloud full of goblins looking to cause trouble. She is rescued by a big black wolf who scare the goblins away and stays to help her fly her kite as high as possible. Their friendship teaches her courage (which is what she names the wolf). An adorable, simple children's story by three-time Eisner nominee Tony Sandoval. The illustrations are magical and the tale itself is very cute.

This issue: "Bar-Con" Wolff & Byrd are attending a bar association convention in San Diego, where Alanna Wolff meets attorney Chase Hawkins when he accidentally breaks her glasses. Chase delivers the keynote speech of the convention, then pursues Alanna. Meanwhile, Jeff Byrd is being pursued by attorney Nate Wurtzler, who wants W&B to join his firm on a case. Back at the office, Toby Bascoe shows up to do some research in W&B's law library and accidentally unleashes Th'Lulu, a Lovecraftian monster from another dimension who falls for Mavis and tosses Toby around the room. Note: The issue is roughly based on Comic-Con in San Diego and has "programs," a "dealers' room," and caricatures of many Comic-Con folks and comic creatures.
